George Holbrook Eric Vidler
Lieutenant the Wiltshire Regiment
eldest son of George Paxton and Elsie Mary Vidler
of this parish
Killed in action in the battle of the Somme in his twentieth year.
Educated at Fritham House and Oakham Schools he entered Sandhurst
in the second month of the Great War and was gazetted Second Lieutenant
in the Wiltshire Regiment in April 1915, he fell leading his men in
a victorious attack upon the enemy's line on July 9th 1916.
