who went from the Undercliffe and gave their livese for Kibng and Country in the Great War 1914-1919. This cross was erected by the residents of St Lawrence in deepest gratitude to the brave men who have fallen and with sincere sympathy with those who are left to mourn their loss. "Their name liveth for evermore."

To the Glory of God And in Grateful Remembrance of the Parishioners and Worshippers of the Parish Church of St Lawrence Who Nobly did their Duty in the Great War. This Roll of Service Was Erected by the Children of the Parish and Dedicated by the General Officer commanding the Isle of Wight on Easter Sunday, April 8th 1917.
