The Roll of Honour of the men of LONG BURTON who fought for their KING their COUNTRY and the LIBERTY of NATIONS in the GREAT WAR of 1914 to 1918 This Memorial was erected by George Hamilton Fletcher Esqre of Leweston Manor 1918
Very small brass plaque underneath memorial.
This memorial was dedicated on Easter Sunday 1919 by the Revd. Cannon C.H. Mayo, M A (Vicar of this Parish from 1872 to 1912.) assisted by the Revd. R. Cooper Fugard B.D. the present Vicar.

(I believe this memorial for Holnest was originally placed in St James the Great, Longburton - not Holnest -
as the memorial has continued on it and is a continuation of Longburton memorial and put up two years after Longburton memorial.)

This Memorial Erected by C.Hamilton Fletcher Esq. of Leweston Manor in place of a provisional one was unveiled by Major E.J.B. Wingfield Digby, D.S.O. of Sherborne Castle on the 29th May 1921
