To the Glory of God and in memory of the men of Charminster who laid down their lives un the Great War August 4th 1914 to November 11th 1918 This cross is eerected by the people of this village to perpetuate their grateful remembrance and their hope for them in Christ.

In loving memory of Robert Saunders 2nd Lieut. M.G.C: 13th Coy 5th Division killed in action Oct.26th 1917. Aged 29. Buried near Polderhock Chateau, Ypres, Belgium. 4th & dearly loved youngest son of T. Chapman & Anna E. Saunders of this parish + "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty."
